… it can be bliss. The television is off. The lights are dim and the only sounds I can hear are the ringing in my ears and the steady blowing of cold air on the backdrop of the grey sky. As I look out the sliding glass doors through the kitchen I can see the brown, naked limbs waving back and forth still keeping spring at bay. I sit here resting, as the doctor instructed. Difficult for me, but I am rather enjoying the peace and quiet. Yes, there is something about the overwhelming silence that pierces my thoughts. Simply sitting, listening to the quiet. I could really learn to love this. “Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Ah yes, the quiet can take some getting used to … but once you do, it becomes a necessity! That very verse helps calm me, too.
