Discipline was one of the words God gave me to meditate on today. Coincidence? I think not!
What follows discipline? Results!
I’d been slacking a bit in my workouts lately. Yes, everyone has an occasional day when things get crazy or motivation is simply lacking. It happens. And, yes, even to fitness trainers.
However, if you invite friends to partner with you on your Fitbit or My Fitness Pal or other fitness tracking tools (and I do highly recommend this), you might want to remember that the encouragement and accountability are reciprocal.
I love encouraging others to faith, fitness, commitments, etc. And, typically, I am good at rallying myself to get my devotions and workouts in, too. Apparently, I had been a little more “off” than I thought on the workout part. Oops!
One of my close friends called me on it …
- Val: How are you, my friend?
- Me: Good.
- Val: Hmmm … I was worried about you because you are behind me on steps, and that’s unusual! I’m praying for you!
So, not only did she call me out on it, she invited me to walk! I accepted without hesitation. We walked together Saturday … close to 8,000 steps at a fast-paced clip. She has longer legs, so I get about a step and a half in to each of her normal strides. I’ve been back at it since. Currently, she is only 224 steps ahead of me for the last 7 days. I’m back in the game … look out! I’m in the passing lane! Pretty sure I’ll be in the lead again soon : ) Thanks friend! I needed that!
What commitments have you let slide? No time like the present to get back on track, right? I pray you have a support team nudging you along, especially in the “off” days.
