Feet. Foundation. Faith.

OK … I realize some of you might not like feet, but I am sharing mine anyway. Yes, these are my feet shown below. And yes, I need a pedicure. Not the point. I am amazed by the change in my feet this week. It’s a fact that I retain water, and more and more as each year goes by. These pictures were taken Monday and Wednesday nights, respectively, approximately the same hour. Didn’t eat differently. Didn’t drink differently. Didn’t work out differently. I drink water, which typically flushes your system – contrary to popular belief that water makes you retain water. Didn’t even wear shoes that cause the swelling … no really! My entire body takes on this issue. Hands, calves, face, tummy, etc. And with each passing year, it gets worse. I used to think it was insane that Mom, my aunts and Grandma all took “fluid pills.” I didn’t understand it. I do now!

That, by the way is the only change from Monday to Wednesday. I am not a proponent of medicine or supplements without actually having a need or having it prescribed. In fact, I hate taking pills, and avoid. But look at this difference. Crazy, right?! I do have a doctor appointment Friday. Self-diagnosis. I’m pretty sure part of the issue is peri-menopause or at this point, I may as well give in … full-on, going-through-the-change … experiencing the fun of hot flashes, moodiness (sorry to those my mood swings effect), low to no energy – bottoms out for no apparent reason, headaches, and so on and so forth. Oh, the fun!

So what? you say! And why am I sharing this? Good questions. Read on : )

My feet are my foundationthey hold me up. Help me balance. Keep me grounded. Allow me to have strong workouts. Get me where I’m going. They seem important. Feet are even referenced in the Bible many times. You may remember the act of humility of Jesus washing His disciples feet. Or the verse about beautiful feet: “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Isaiah 52:7.

When I think of healthy feet, I think:

  • Walk by faith.
  • Running the race to win the prize.
  • Standing on the promises.
  • Stepping out in faith.
  • Laying at the feet of Jesus.
  • Foot of the cross.

So, I prefer my feet not be out of whack. What about your feet?

  • Happy feet?
  • Tired feet?
  • Running feet?
  • Dirty feet?
  • Dancing feet?
  • Healthy feet?

May God order the steps of your feet and show you the path He has planned for you.

Blessings to you and, well, your feet!
