As I sit at my kitchen table working today, I am reminded how much I enjoy Spring. The grass is growing and is a beautiful deep shade of green. Little buds are starting to sprout on the tree, and I’ve seen Cardinals, Robins, Blue Jays and Finches perching on the tree and fence, overshadowing the still brown
remains of winter. Squirrels racing up the tree, through the yard repeatedly, chasing each other … so much energy.
It’s a time of renewal, rebirth and fresh starts. As I think about Holy week and the intensity of anticipation each day brings, I am humbled. I am humbled at the painful sacrifice that was made for me … for you.
Tomorrow is Maundy Thursday … a time of reflection of that very sacrifice, of the cross, and of our loving Savior who gave his life for our sins.
And then, Good Friday … more anticipation … of the resurrection, of the debt that was paid for each of us. Such an amazing gift we were given … it’s there for the taking. Simply ask. It’s God’s unconditional love for us, his most precious sacrifice … crucified, dead and buried and resurrected.
Easter Sunday … ahh, the resurrection. The Good News!
Praying you find renewal and refreshment in Jesus and with your friends and family in this Holy Week and spring season.
Song of Solomon 2:11-12 – For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.
Blessings and happy Spring,
Lisa
